Mel Wiebe, Director Emeritus

Melvin George (Mel) Wiebe, born and educated in Manitoba (Lowe Farm High School, University of Manitoba BA 1960, MA 1962, LLD 2007) and at the University of Toronto, has been a member of the Queen's University Department of English since 1965 until nominally retiring in 2004 as Professor Emeritus. He joined the Disraeli Project in 1979, and has been its head since 1982, resuming the directorship in 2005 after a brief hiatus.

Michel W. Pharand, Past Director

The Director Designate since 2007 and Director of the Disraeli Project since 2009, Michel W. Pharand holds a BA and MA in English from the University of Ottawa and a PhD in Comparative Literature from Penn State University, where he studied under Stanley Weintraub, author of Disraeli: a Biography (1993). Michel is the author of Bernard Shaw and the French (2000), general editor of SHAW: The Annual of Bernard Shaw Studies, and editor of Robert Graves's The Greek Myths (2001) and of Bernard Shaw and His Publishers (2009). He is also an advisory editor for ELT: English Literature in Transition, 1880-1920 and for Broadview Press.

Ellen Hawman, Past Co-editor

Ellen L. Hawman has a BA in English Literature from Queen's University and a MLIS from the University of Western Ontario. She has sixteen years experience working as a research associate on the Disraeli Project. In 2000 she won a Special Recognition for Staff Award from Queen's for exceptional service to the university community. In 2005 she established her own documents preparation business, ELPH Text Services. She edited and/or indexed numerous books, articles, theses and essays before returning to the Disraeli Project in 2008 as Co-editor. She is a member of the Kingston and Area Home Business Association, the Editors' Association of Canada and the Indexing Society of Canada.
